TRUST
YOU HAVE TO TRUST SOMEONE…

So lately I’ve heard a couple of stories about athletes getting burned in building their companies by people who said they wanted to help, but ended up doing harm.

Who wouldn’t have trust issues because of this? I totally get it. Who can you trust when dealing with early stage companies? The founder? The funds? The family office? Your Mother?

Do they just want to work with you because of your name, or because it’s a good story to tell?

Look, I don’t have a clear answer for you. But what I do know is that you gotta run towards the smoke.

I wanted to share some quotes that I hope you take with you today.

“By the standards of the rest of the world, we overtrust. So far it has worked very well for us.” - Charlie Munger

“Trust is the highest form of human motivation. It brings out the very best in people.” - Stephen Covey

“Trust has to be the highest value in your company, and if it’s not, something bad is going to happen to you.” - Marc Benioff

To the athletes reading this, you can’t do all by yourself. Spend time finding the trusted source. Life becomes easier. Take that as you wish.
