I am not just saying this because I like sports, but after my conversation with Dion, I think one of the best analogies for startups is building a sports team.

In sports, every position is vital, each player has a critical role, you need resources, and success depends on being in sync—much like in a startup.

And just like how great founders make that mental shift after leaving a great company to build their own, Dion is doing the same.

Dion manages Shnow Motor Sports in the NFL Off-Season. He oversees more than 5 staff members handling equipment, planning, and logistics. As you can imagine, building up this team has been hectic.

So even though Dion plays for a great team in the Bills, there’s a whole new level of complexity because he’s the “GM” of the Motor Sports team.

Anyways, you see the similarities right? Hope so.
